  • 13th (Netflix) –  A 2016 American documentary by director Ava DuVernay. The film explores the intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the United States.
  • King In The Wilderness (HBO) –  An American documentary about Martin Luther King Jr. that premiered on April 2, 2018, focusing on the final 18 months of his life leading up to his assassination on April 4, 1968.
  • The Square: A 2013 Egyptian-American documentary film by Jehane Noujaim, which depicts the ongoing Egyptian Crisis until 2013, starting with the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 at Tahrir Square.
  • The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 – Directed by Göran Olsson, that examines the evolution of the Black Power movement in American society from 1967 to 1975 as viewed through Swedish journalists and filmmakers.
  • I Am Not Your Negro – A 2016 documentary directed by Raoul Peck, based on James Baldwin‘s unfinished manuscript Remember This House. Narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson.
  • The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution – A 2015 American doc directed and written by Stanley Nelson Jr. The film combines archival footage and interviews with surviving Panthers and FBI agents to tell the story of the revolutionary black organization Black Panther Party.
